The Gambler
1. Is there really a difference between purchasing contracts written by lawyers versus having a lawyer draft one for you?
2. And don’t lawyers file the same papers for my LLC that Legal Zoom does?
3. How am I more protected by your legal words than I am by my internet lawyers?
4. And aren’t you totally biased because you are a business lawyer writing this?
It is true, we are all playing with the same deck of cards here. Whether you do things yourself, have the internet do the stuffs, or hire a lawyer, we are all drawing from the same words, rules and laws. But it is what you do with those cards that can make or break you.
The amateur gambler has no more or less cards available to her than the professional. She plays by the same rules and faces the same uncertainty. When she sits down at the table, all things appear to be equal. Until they are not. How could her cards fail her when she drew from the same deck as the pro?
Because the pro knows when to hold em’
Knows when to fold em’
Knows when to walk away
Knows when to run
In other words, we know exactly how to use the legal words, laws and the rules. We also know when things will not work, when there is a problem, and how to solve it.
Why does it matter if a legal professional works with you? Because:
I’ve made a life
Out of readin’ people’s faces
Knowin’ what the cards were
By the way they held their eyes
So if you don’t mind me sayin’
I can see you’re out of aces
It is our job. It is our life’s work. We know how to read your business. We know what your business needs. We know what it does not need, and we know what you need to do.
In reality, I just want you to do it right, even if it is not right now.
And do not worry, if you do retain us, we will never count your money when you’re sittin’ at the table….
RIP Kenny Rogers, and thank you.
